OMNIcon implants are manufactured using the machining method on state-of-the-art ‘Computer Numerical Control’ (CNC) machines.

To ensure the implant is ideally positioned within a smaller-diameter hole drilled into the bone and can settle over a wider area within the cancellous bone, a dual-entry buttress-type groove has been machined into the body; two opposing cutting channels have been added to allow these grooves to carve their own path.

It also features an ideal implant design, shaped with a Four-Entry Mini Groove close to the bone level. The mini flutes begin after a straight section extending 0.7 mm below the bone level; they continue with a 1.6 mm pitch down to the conical start 2.5 mm below, and are half the depth of a full flute.

1.6mm-pitch two-entry Buttress-type thread along a 1.5° taper

1Rifle Groove Geometry

A dual-entry buttress-type groove with a 1.6 mm pitch has been machined along a 1.5-degree taper; there is also a second angle of 1.5 degrees between the tapered surface and the base of the buttress groove. The 1.6 mm Buttress grooves reduce the number of rotations required during implant placement, whilst the mini grooves reduce stress at the bone level.

2Pressure Sandblasting

Surface roughening of the implant; HA/B-TCP — BIPHASIC CALCIUM PHOSPHATE (Hydroxyapatite >65%, b-TCP, aTCP and TTCP phases <35%, other Ca-P phases <5%) is achieved by spraying the material onto the implant surface using a CNC automation system.

3Acid Treatment

This is the process carried out after sandblasting to clean the implant surface with a specially formulated acid and to enhance the surface roughness.

4Surface Measurement

Once the roughened implant surface has been completely cleaned of any residual particles by acid treatment, it is measured using the Surtronic 3P device: an average of 1.5–2.3 microns. These values are within the accepted range for dental implants.
